Laura, congratulations on your enormous success in Europe and South America! Welcome to New York!

Born in the small northern Italian village of Solarolo, Laura's career was launched in 1993. At 18 years old she exploded into the global scene. Now, 10 years later, Laura has sold 20 million albums worldwide and her albums in Italian & Spanish have earned her an extraordinary 160 platinum discs.

How long have you been in New York?

I am very excited to be here. I have been in New York only four days and four nights and I am going back to Italy tonight. I will be back again in about seven days after taking care of the many things I have to do.

What inspired you to pursue a singing career?

I started singing when I was eight years old. Singing was so important to me, in my life, attitude and love.

I was not ambitious as a child. My father encouraged me to enter competitions and contests, which became very much part of my life. I was not the typical teenager. I was very closed, shy and didn't hangout with my friends at disco's. My parents wanted me at home. Singing became my life, I traveled a lot on the job, and my job became my dream.

Name the artists who have most influenced your music career.

I have been influenced by the greatest artists in jazz, pop, reggae, traditional, ballards, pop, and all types of music, taking the best from each to represent my own personality. Whitney Houston, George Michaels, Sade, Phil Collins, and many others have influenced me.

Tell us about your new album, "FROM THE INSIDE".

My new album "FROM THE INSIDE" took two years to produce and I shuttled between America (California) and my ongoing international commitments. It is my first English-language album and will be released on November 5th.

The album will be promoted on radio and TV in America, Canada and Mexico. I plan to go on tour next year.

Have you developed a video for MTV or VH1 yet?

I have just completed a video with MTV. The final editing is being done now and it will start its rotation on TV next week!

Do you have time for hobbies or interests?

In Italy, I study at a school of art in ceramics. I love my classes and hope one day to have time to do more in ceramics.

What would you like to say to your TeenFX fans?

I really hope that you will find in my music inspiration and emotion. Find one of my songs, and then dedicate it to the person you love.

Is there anything else you would like to add in this interview?

I am an Italian and I represent my country. I am pround to be an Italian here in America, discovering the American people.

Can you buy Laura's Italian albums in the States? I have only seen her CD's that are sung in English.

I would recomend that anyone who likes Laura's english language albums, to check out her Italian language albums. The reason being that the Italian language when sung is ten times more beautiful than English, and her lyrics and song in Italian are incredible. Her English and Spanish albums are good.. but the albums in the original Italian language are simply that much better.

Hey Everybody, you all know that Laura Pausini is in the music business for about 10 years now. I'm a fan of hers ever since her firts single "La Solitudine". I was very happy when I heared that there was a English album coming up.... Only it will not be released in Europe this year... But even when that bugs me big time... laura still is the best female artist I've ever listend to. Her style is very different on the english albums but still very Laura....
